Integrated Learning Institute (ILI) Pvt. Ltd. organized a technical talk program entitled “Requisites of Quality Infrastructural Development in Nepal” on 15 February 2015 at Heritage Regale, Blue Bird Mall, Thapathali, Kathmandu in the presence of Mr. Leela Mani Poudyal, the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal as the chief guest of the program. The special guest of the program was Er. Dhruba Raj Thapa, the president of Nepal Engineers’ Association. There were three presentations by the speakers namely Er. Bhim Upadhyaya, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Er. Sher Singh Bhat, the General Manager of the Nepal Electricity Authority and Hirendra Man Pradhan, the Chairman of Kathmandu Engineering College. The distinguished guests of the program were Principals/Head of Departments of several engineering colleges, representatives from consulting and construction companies, IT firms, Nepal Hydropower Association, SCAEF, etc.
More than 200 engineering students and graduates attended the program. In the program, Mr. Upadhyaya presented the development works carried out for improving the life of people in rural areas, quality issues in these development works and the existing norms of the government regarding the rural infrastructure development. Similarly, Mr. Bhat pointed out the importance of planning, design, implementation, operation and maintenance in development of hydropower projects. On the other hand, Professor Pradhan discussed about quality issues in engineering education and highlighted its importance among the audience presented in the program. The Special Guest of the program Er. Thapa focused on entrepreneurship. Meanwhile the Chief Guest of the program Mr. Poudyal mentioned the importance of quality works especially in developing countries like ours. “Quality is not always expensive. Low quality of works turns out as expenses everywhere and we have to pay it with interest”, Mr. Poudyal added. The program was chaired by Dr. Laxmi Bhakta Shilpakar, the president of Integrated Learning Institute (ILI).
